Exploring Liverpool's Quarters: Ropewalks

The Ropewalks area of the city has been given its name from the craft of rope-making for the sailor ships that dominated the area in the 19th century.

Since then it has become a cultural hub for independent shops, restaurants, bars, nightlife and galleries.

One of the favoured streets of Liverpool, Bold Street is found in the Ropewalks and is a bustling honey pot of world food stores, quirky bazaars and international eateries! It’s also where visitors will find Merseyrail’s Liverpool Central Station, serving both the Northern and Wirral Line areas.

There’s loads of cultural venues in the area including the FACTThe Bluecoat, a stunning 300 year old building in the heart of the city, The Epstein Theatre and the iconic Bombed Out Church that sits atop of Bold Street is a locals favourite.

Ropewalks also comes alive in the night time housing popular night-time spots, Seel Street, Fleet Street, Slater Street and of course Concert Square.
