Sefton Heritage Open Days

Sefton has a fascinating past and is rich in heritage. Its diverse communities reflect this and offer much to explore today. Ancient settlements such as Bootle, Crosby, Maghull and Formby were mentioned in the Domesday book but Southport, the classic resort, is barely two centuries old.

There are towns and villages to visit and rural landscapes to enjoy, There are fine historic churches and houses to view; a lively maritime heritage to seek out and a unique coastline to experience. Bootle, Victorian boom town; Sefton Village and its magnificent late medieval church; Lydiate with 'the oldest pub in Lancashire'; Formby's famous red squirrels; Birkdale of golfing fame; Churchtown's thatched cottages - these are only some examples of Sefton's diversity.
