Halton Heritage Open Days

With both Viking & Norman origins, Halton's heritage extends much further back than being just the renowned birthplace of the chemical industry in the 19th Century. Did you realise that Halton is the home of a king's champion & the first canals, was the residence of monks during medieval times, has the remains of a Norman Castle and contains a scheduled ancient monument of which there are only 3 in the country? There is also a surprising literary legacy as Lewis Carroll, arguably Halton's most famous resident, spent his childhood years in Daresbury Village amongst the idyllic Cheshire countryside.
