Halton

BridgeHalton has an eclectic mix of hertitage sites (with its own Norman castle and monastery), plus activities for the family such as miniature railways, ski slope and nature reserves. There's also something for grown-ups including Creamfields and The Brindley, Halton's purpose-built theatre and arts centre.

Halton Castle is one of only two surviving Norman castles in Cheshire. It was built in the year 1071 by Hugh Lupus, to whom the county was granted by William the Conqueror, for assisting him in the invasion. Halton Castle stands on a prominent rocky hill overlooking the River Mersey.

narrowboatWhether you enjoy delving into history, indulging in thrill-seeking sports or getting away from it all in the great outdoors, you'll find it all in the towns and villages of Runcorn, Widnes, Hale, Daresbury and Moore in Halton.
